London date report says the American oil steamer Vacuum was sunk by a German submarine Saturday while en route to the United States. The captain, part of the crew, a naval lieutenant and nine naval gunners are missing. the chief mate and seventeen others including three navy gunners were landed. Fifteen Americans remained aboard.
Nations unite to launch a first series of meetings at Tontgomery Hall in honor of Washington. The campaign pledges a solemn compact to oppose autocracy and promote essential food crops.
