Colonel Pleasant reiterates he will not participate in a compromise between the Tensas Levee Board and the Tensas Delta Land Company. He explains his authority covers only prosecuting the suit and that a settlement would remove the board’s right of action, forcing dismissal.
The Levee Board members explain that the attorney general did not state he would not consent nor that a compromise was impossible. Col Pleasant said the case, though a gamble, should stay in court, and any settlement outside the courts would be between the Levee Board and land company. He would withdraw the suit if authorized.
