Dispatcher Robert Riggan Dies After Brief Illness
Robert H. Riggan 89 died at his home after a brief illness. He had been a Missouri Pacific railroad dispatcher and a Methodist church member. Survived by widow Mrs. Robert Riggan, daughter Mattie, his mother, a sister and brothers. Funeral at 10 a.m. tomorrow from 806 Stone Avenue with Rev. E. K. Means officiating. interment in New City Cemetery.

Monroe Chamber leaders head to Baton Rouge for tax relief

Lumber plants closing in north Louisiana amid slack lumber demand

Explosion damages Emory University laboratory injuring students
Atlanta on March 22 Dr Bliss of Emory University and six or more students were injured in a pharmaceutical lab explosion believed caused by gas ignition. The blast heavily damaged the laboratory and blew out several windows with about a dozen students present.

Outlaw Gass Capping Program Advances in El Dorado Oil Field
Caddo Central’s burning gas well in the El Dorado field is out and will be capped in two to three days. Expert crews led by C. P. Clayton and Red Chessiere diverted gas flow with an eight inch casing to reduce pressure. The burning well had been raging for nine days since March 7 and was ignited again by lightning on March 11. Work crews plan immediate action to seal the gas flow while new equipment is prepared.
