Mrs. Nora Williamson 83 of Haile is fatally burned after her clothing caught fire from a gas stove at her daughter’s home in Haile Louisiana. She died in the afternoon and funeral services were held at Liberty church the next day. Witnesses Describe Fatal Train Crash at Alamo Texas
In McAllen Texas witnesses at an inquest described Jose Ramon driving a truck with 42 Mexican laborers into the path of a Missouri Pacific train. Twenty seven killed and 15 injured four severely. The crash happened near Alamo six miles east of McAllen as Ramon slowed to ten miles per hour then pulled in front of the train. Authorities did not see the truck but the engineer hit the emergency brake as the locomotive struck what sounded like empty oil drums. The train was reportedly traveling 45 miles an hour.
