A Ouachita Parish Democratic Executive Committee meeting endorsed the Democratic national and state platforms, praised Wilson administration policies, and supported Democratic nominees. Paris March 11 The war office says heavy combat continues for Fort Vaux with Germans advancing along the slope toward the fort but not yet crossing the wire entanglements. Germans hold houses in Vaux east while French hold the west. Berlin March 11 Berlin reports Germans captured French positions 1490 yards wide and two-thirds of a mile deep south of Ville-Aux-Bois.
Montreal reports that following Britain's example the Canadian bishops urge parish missions to rekindle faith during wartime. A circular cites moral laxity at home, with indifference to God, secular living, desecrated Sabbaths, fading Bible reading, and rampant greed, graft, and corruption noted as contemporary ills.
The Monroe Labor Council denounces the criminal responsible for nightly incendiary fires endangering homes and lives.
