Navy Nurse Lt Essie Coxsey Seeks Monroe Recruits

Reservations at a Virginia hotel were arranged by Director Philip K. Sherman for Lt. Essie E. Coxsey of the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. Coxsey will arrive in Monroe on April 9 at 10:00 a.m. and depart later that day at 6:25 p.m., to acquaint local women with Navy Nurse careers.

Robbery staged at opera star Chamlee home in Hollywood

Local Sheriff Nominee Likely Soon Appointed in Ouachita Parish

Mosley, former West Carroll deputy sheriff from 1936 to 1940 and sheriff 1940 to 1944 who later served in the Navy, had been appointed deputy marshal last October to fill the Bailey Grant vacancy. LeBlanc plans a successor outside the civil service register, naming an applicant from Monroe and favoring veterans with law enforcement experience.
