A massive explosion tore through the lower harbor as 300 tons of dynamite on the British steamer Alum Chine detonated. At least 13 known dead, with dozens more injured, including crew of the Jason and tug Atlantic. ships, buildings, and a schoolhouse suffered damage across several miles.
A public gathering in Ouachita parish heard W. H. Seed advocate better highways and the split log drag. Local businessmen pledged 400 to bring King for a five day parish tour east of the river with a ten mill tax vote for ten years.
Fort Worth Texas March 7 Stock raisers and farmers across northern Texas look forward to the Fat Stock Show opening here tomorrow with a typical vast display of horses and livestock and eager exhibitors awaiting the event's strong prospects.
This year’s livestock exhibition will devote much attention to silage and other feeds. The show will continue through next week.

Rear Admiral Albert B. Willits, a leading navy engineering expert, retired today after reaching the age limit for active service. His career centered in the Bureau of Steam Engineering, he was promoted to captain in 1908 and became rear admiral last year.
Former Attorney General George W. Wickersham and Mrs Wickersham set out from San Francisco for an eight month world voyage starting tomorrow. They will be joined by Miss Martha Bowers daughter of the late Lloyd C Bowers solicitor general, Miss Frances Noyes and Frederick Moore of New York.
