Former Louisiana Governor Heard, former chairman of the Board of Control of the State Penitentiary, refutes Governor Hall’s interview claims about farm conditions and penalties. He disputes water damage figures from 1912 and 1913, asserts mortality rates stayed low, and defends the board’s finances and reforms including 1911 refinery plans at Angola and related investments.
Associated Press reports Greek cavalry under General Souzou entered Janine at 9 am and captured the entire Turkish garrison plus many refugees from Monastir. Greek artillery fired about 30000 shells as feints misled the defenders and troops stormed the left flank, overwhelming Ottoman defenses.

Wright returns from a trip to Alexandria Minden and Shreveport and plans to meet police juries and address teachers institutes in North Louisiana. Dr. W. R. Dodson and Prof. F. E. S. Richardson visit Monroe today.
A meeting in Dr G Surghnors office discussed the coming baseball season. M G Spaugh was elected president and W S Levens treasurer. A secretary selection was postponed. The four club amateur league will play a Sunday double header under National rules with local by laws to be reported later. Players not yet signed are urged to list names with listed officials.

Glasgow March 6 The Cunard liner Aquitania rises as the largest ship afloat with 50000 tons, 5885 feet long, 95 feet beam. She will launch in about four weeks and feature lavish interiors, multiple dining rooms, a theatre, swimming pool, gyms, and advanced safety and wireless systems for transatlantic service.
