The Louisiana Stream Control Commission reports that the Ouachita River pollution from oil brines and industrial wastes plus domestic sewage makes the river unsuitable for public water supply and deters new industry. American Astrojet Crashes at Idlewild Killing 95 on Board

A luxury American Airlines jetliner plunged into a swamp at Idlewild Airport during takeoff for Los Angeles, killing all 95 aboard. Among victims was W.
