Merl Padgett Surrenders Gavel at Monroe Lions Luncheon
The Monroe Lions Club held its moonday luncheon at the Hotel Frances as Merl Padgett relinquished the gavel to Owen McCleary. Officers installed included Owen McCleary president and George Moses first vice president with W. W Chapman as second vice president. The event featured Rev. R. T. Watson, Mrs. P. A. Poeg, Charles Welch, and Mrs. R. R. Prichard. Guests included Fred Meyer and Floyd Huddleston. The piece notes a well behaved, lively convention with memorable sermons, music, and a touching necrology service led by Dr. Watson at Central Grammar School.
