It seeks improved prior consultations, regrets the lack of such talks, and notes the motion could pressure Churchill toward dissolution and an early election.
A Monroe man Coleman Miller, 36, received a three year sentence in the Angola state penitentiary after pleading guilty to forging a welfare check on June 3. He left Monroe after forging the signature and was captured in Greenville, Mississippi, before being returned to Monroe for sentencing.
A 25 year old Ouachita parish resident is being returned from Owenburg Tennessee to face burglary of a residence charge. J J McKinney was apprehended about ten days ago and Deputy Bill Causey was sent to Tennessee to bring him back, with the sheriff confirming the return expected Saturday.
The Big Three foreign ministers, Dean Acheson Anthony Eden and Robert Schuman, sharpened a Western reply to Russia on four power talks for German unity. They reviewed a draft line by line in a two and a half hour session. a final draft was not completed before lunch at 10 Downing Street. They planned to resume talks later and complete the note that night. Sources close to the conference say the aim is to force the Soviet Union to reveal its stance.
James D. Brasher, 16, son of Mr and Mrs W N Brasher of 609 North Sixth Street West Monroe, suffered a fractured skull and other injuries Friday at 8 45 am in a collision at Harrison and Jackson streets. He was taken to St Frances sanitarium by Mulhearn ambulance.
Allied truce negotiators walked out for the third time in a month, with Maj. Gen. William K. Harrison Jr. declaring a three day recess and accusing North Korean General Nam Il of losing control. The Communist delegation demanded another meeting as Nam’s voice rose to a near scream.
William C. Tucker aged 75 of 413 Sixth street Monroe died after falling on stairs Thursday night and being taken to a local hospital. Funeral services set for 3:00 Saturday at Hall Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Hasley Cemetery West Monroe. Survived by wife three sons W L Tucker Baton Rouge Ferman and Samuel Tucker California and daughter Mildred Johns Jiggers La. Pallbearers listed.
About 250 farmers and others attended the L S A Experiment Station field day in Calhoun. The Thursday program served white farmers while Friday welcomed Negro visitors. Poultry topics dominated with emphasis on broiler production and steps to success, featuring talks by state university agriculturalists.
Governor John S. Fine said he is getting closer to Eisenhower's views but declined to name a preferred GOP candidate. An AP poll showed Eisenhower leading Taft among Pennsylvania’s 70 convention delegates, with 32 for Eisenhower, 24 for Taft, and 14 undecided. Fine, an organization man, noted independents favor Eisenhower more than Taft and denied any feud with Sen. Duff.
