One Killed In DeSiard Street Pileup Sunday
At 4 45 p m Sunday a rear collision on DeSiard street involving four cars left one person dead. F H Gunther of Fairbanks halted for a left turn, Thomas E Brady of Calypso street stopped behind, Willie Warner of Adams street collided with Brady, then B B Bass followed. Warner skidded five feet and Bass marked the pavement for 63 feet. Earlier, Harris driving a Clifford Stansbury car from Rayville left to turn on DeSiard and was struck by Claude McHenry of Shreveport. Mrs McHenry was treated and released, Harris kept overnight with a shoulder injury.

Frog Shorty Back in Jail After Lake Providence Arrest
Chief H. T. Ward said H. B. Booker aka Frog Shorty, a 57 year old Negro, escaped from Monroe city jail on June 16 while on trusty duty. He was captured in Lake Providence and will be returned to serve a 200 day sentence for threatening an aged white man at the city dump with an axe. Committed in May.
