Wounded Railroad Conductor Holds Own After Shooting
Charles A. Deering 46 year old Missouri Pacific conductor remained in serious condition at St Francis hospital after a 22 caliber rifle discharge. Police said he aimed to commit suicide at landlady Mrs J L Jacks home 508 South First street when the gun discharged during a struggle over the weapon. The bullet damaged his leg abdomen and intestine.

Police arrest drunk driver after Washington street crash
Police charged German Swink of 811 St John Street with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and damaging another's property after a late Thursday collision on Washington Street near North South Street. Swink was released on $180 bond and faces city court. Norman Rushing of 111 Filhiol Avenue West Montar said Swink hit and ran, then was chased down and returned to the scene.

Condemned Slayer Granted Reprieve at San Quentin
Tony Cabrera, condemned for killing his 16 year old sweetheart, received a 20 day reprieve from Governor Frank Merriam in Sacramento, delaying his execution at San Quentin so he could reinstate an appeal to the state supreme court. Cabrera had been confined in a Florida farm colony after commitments in 1928 1930 and parole prior to his move to California.
