Bliss fires top aide over desk rifling at party HQ

Republican National Chairman Ray Bliss dismissed William Cody Kelly for violating staff standards after Frank Kovac alleged Kelly and three aides broke into Kovac’s desk Friday night. Kovac accused them of reading correspondence and noted the incident occurred after Goldwater formed a new group, the Free Society Association. Kelly, 43, a Cincinnati lawyer, had led Bliss’s administrative office since April.

Long Range Bridge Plan Cited by Myrick in Parish Road Scheme

Myrick of Oak Grove advocates a long range plan to build a half mile road from Braswell School in West Carroll Parish toward the Boeuf River where a bridge would cross. The project could cost about 150000 dollars and aims to extend a new highway from the river on the Morehouse side toward Bonita. Myrick says the bridge serves a larger road program and will spur farming development on cleared swampland with many other roads planned on the Morehouse side. A highway official notes no final approval yet and compares costs to Ouachita parish highway aid.

Roark Honored For Excellence At Dallas Award

West Monroe postmaster Homer B. Roark accepted the Concord Minute Man Award for excellence of participation in the US Savings Bond payroll deduction program. Deputy Postmaster General Frederick G. Belon presented the honor in Dallas as 43 West Monroe employees were praised by the official.
