Market notes on cotton futures and harvest prospects

Many bullish possibilities were realized last week with a net advance of about 2.06 per bale and expectations for more gains if wet weather continues or if Mexico tension rises. Weather remains unsettled in the interior with heavy rains in Oklahoma and the Mississippi Valley. July notices loom in New Orleans and New York with official crop and acreage data due. Export demand appears higher, with more cotton aboard ships and a world supply outlook showing U S stocks strong compared with Europe. Traders weigh new crop pricing against the need for a sizable crop next season amid potential peace in Europe.
