Police stopped a new suffrage protest in Washington as Mrs Lawrence Lewis of Philadelphia and Miss Gladyce Greiner of Baltimore were arrested before unfurling banners near the White House. Allotments will be made for subscriptions up to 10 000.

Alfredo Cocchi confessed to killing Ruth Crueger in New York, saying jealousy over unreciprocated love led to the murder. After a lengthy interrogation by Judge Zucconi, Cocchi admitted the crime, previously claiming they knew each other only two days before her disappearance.

An American steamer fought a German submarine off Genoa on June 6. The submarine fired a torpedo that missed by twenty feet. The steamer fired twice, hitting the submarine’s periscope and the water where it disappeared. The vessel escaped damage.
The public information committee reports federal and local action removing moral hazards in cantonment sites. The statement notes El Paso, Fort Worth and Waco no longer host red light districts, with crime and vice reduced, claiming the region has become safer for democracy and military life.
