Attendance Strains Louisiana House Amid Quorum Push
Baton Rouge June 21 Attendance in the Louisiana house neared a point where no business could be transacted as votes fell below 60 on several bills. Speaker Morris Lottinger ordered the sergeant at arms to gather members for a quorum while civil service bill supporters and opponents urged backing. Gov Earl K Long appealed for support as the body, in a long session, passed 52 bills amid ongoing debate.
