Howard White 18 of Magna, Catahoula parish, died after being struck by a car on the Black River bridge. Otis Oliphant 22 of Harrisonburg, driving the vehicle, faced no charges. Fugitives From Lorton Prison Are Shot and Captured
In Baltimore two armed escapees from Lorton VA prison were spotted after stealing a Washington car from Senator Harrison of Mississippi. Martin Walsh alias James Bischoff, 35, was killed by a patrolman when he reached for a pistol. Walter Forbush alias Billy Riggin, 24, of South Boston VA, fled but was captured after a short chase. Both men had fled two months earlier after serving 17 months of six year terms for a Washington holdup.
