Sunday services at First Christian Church featured Rev. F. Camp preaching on Christ as the universal. He argued religion trends toward universality, citing science sociology and commerce, and urged following the universal Christ over force or mere comprehension.
George Heekin of 316 North Sixth street told police that a thief entered his room Saturday night and stole his watch chain and $20. The method of entry is unknown.
Gainas Deal of Slagle Johnson Lumber was arrested Saturday at 7 p m on drunkenness disturbing the peace and carrying a concealed weapon. Witnesses L T Harrell Alice Butoud and W P Elledge say the disturbance occurred before Harrell’s home. Deal was found with a revolver at 2514 Lee Avenue and released on a $250 property bond.
In Columbia Louisiana a Caldwell Parish Parent-Teacher Association was organized at a courthouse meeting last week. A medical examination day was set for June 19 for children four to seven, carried out by the Caldwell parish health unit director with public health nurses assisting. Clinics will be held at Columbia public school and Grayson with local women aiding, following a prior examination at Clarks where 42 children were checked.
The last of a ten plane fleet landed in Dallas about 2 pm after a nonstop flight from Montgomery Alabama with a brief stop at Selman field. The group continued toward Monroe and Dallas then proceeded to San Antonio as their next objective.
Camp Ki Ro Li near Monroe and West Monroe will run June 24 to July 1 but faces cutbacks due to insufficient funds. The director said two to three weeks would be removed, pushing the final closing to July 8. Periods include Monroe West Monroe Jonesboro June 24 July 1 and several towns July 1 8 15 with many Scouts staying over.
C A Ober of 508 Clayton street West Monroe reports his Ford coupe was stolen last night from in front of his residence. No suspect named and police notified for investigation.

Eugene Willis and Garland Lowe were arrested by Deputy Jim Stanley for driving a car while intoxicated. The pair drove the vehicle into a ditch on Sterlington road and were jailed at noon Sunday.
A Sunday raid at 3 20 p m on 719 Walnut Street uncovered beer and brewing paraphernalia in a first class residential area. Mr and Mrs Barrow were arrested for possessing home brew with E W Barrow and Catherine Lewis also taken into custody. The case may go to federal authorities. Captain Clower and Sergeant Pettit led the operation.
A complaint claimed beer was sold at the place and prompted action by local authorities. The report notes the sally followed the complaint and mentions beer sales as the central issue.

Capt. Emilio Carranza Mexico's goodwill ambassador arrived at Mitchell Field New York from Washington amid welcoming crowds as he began a goodwill flight to strengthen ties with the United States.
Arturo M. Elias Mexican consul general in New York and staff arrived at the capital after a two hour and fifty minute jump. Generals Hanson Ely commander of the second corps area and Maj. John N. Reynold, the Mitchel Field commanding officer, accompanied the party.
A Louisiana severance tax would not raise state revenue but would hamper the oil industry. Refiners already rely on imports, with 5.4 million barrels used in April 1928. Producers face a market with long standing overproduction in nearby states and must absorb the tax or curtail operations.
