Three thousand soldiers of the Eighth Armored Division arrive at the Shreveport fairgrounds for National Infantry Day. An advance party set up tents as the parade, led by Col. Richard A. Jones, will travel a two-section route through downtown Shreveport tomorrow morning. An infantry weapons and equipment exhibition will be shown on the courthouse lawn.
Chief Justice Edward C. Eicher agreed to hear oral arguments Monday on a motion for directed verdict of acquittal for 29 defendants in a mass sedition conspiracy case. Defense will cite the Hartzel decision, while prosecutors outline specific intent to impair morale of the armed forces.
The navy at Pearl Harbor announced three days of carrier task force operations against Guam and Marianas bases, sinking 13 Japanese ships and damaging 16, with 141 Allied planes destroyed. The bold raid moved within 1500 miles of Tokyo, while Tokyo reports claim minimal damage and a single Allied ship sunk.
Sentence handed to Captain Morrison J. Wilkinson after a seven day trial at an air base court martial.
