Red Cross Pushes Drive Despite Roosevelt War Relief Plan

The Red Cross will press toward its 20 million dollar goal despite President Roosevelt urging a 50 million dollar war relief appropriation. Norman H. Davis, national chairman, told Ouachita parish chapter leader E. C. Gibson that current funds raised total 10,171,322 dollars. Davis notes federal funds would be government run under Red Cross supervision, while quota money is spent by the national unit. Executive committee and board sessions are planned at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday at the Community Chest headquarters in the Virginia hotel.

Bond set for former tax collector in embezzlement case

Olay Ardoin, former state assistant tax collector, charged by a Calcasieu Parish grand jury with embezzling 3800.62 dollars from public funds between May 24, 1938, and July 28, 1939. A separate indictment from August cites 8.49 dollars. Churchill helped promote the first war tanks in 1915.

A federal court halted distribution of part of Life magazine on June 14 07 after Charlie Chaplin filed suit claiming an unauthorized image from his film The Dictator appeared in the magazine. He sought an injunction and $1 9 million in damages against Time Inc and four Time Life executives.

Twin City Camera Club Sets Speaker For Thursday Meeting

Kip Moore announced Eddie Fitzpatrick will speak at Griffin's studio Thursday. Fitzpatrick will discuss photography choices in a 13 minute talk. A club exhibit follows next Thursday with Nature Study as its subject and a prize is mentioned.
