The Louisiana House Public Roads and Highway Committee sent a re vamped administration highway bonding plan to the lower chamber with an 18 to 2 favorable committee vote. The substitute, backed by Gov. Long, would bond all highway revenues including the four cent gasoline tax and license receipts for about 25 years to float a $63 million bond issue for four years. About $7 million yearly would remain unpledged for farm or gravel roads, and the measure differs from the original plan by not bonding two additional cents of the gasoline tax.
