Columbia La June 11 The Louisiana Light and Power company is laying water mains in Columbia and expects completion by July 1 The well is finished the pump is ready and concrete reservoir and filter beds will start soon An elevated steel tank ordered from Chicago Bridge and Iron Works will supply 100000 gallons at 125 feet high Water will reach mains by September or sooner for local residents.

A bootlegger and his customer were arrested Saturday afternoon by the police. W. D. Crawford, a contractor from Hattiesburg, was taken on Walnut Street after a bartender allegedly spotted him drinking. Henry Burrell, a barber-shop porter, was later detained for selling whiskey.

Louisiana bill would ease corporate law for big firms
By Associated Press Baton Rouge June 11 Senator Pike Hall of Caddo parish will introduce a bill to make Louisiana corporation law flexible enough to attract and organize large corporations within the state. The measure follows a study of Ohio Florida and New York and has strong support from the Louisiana Bar Association which spent 14 months on the issue. The aim is to stop large concerns from doing business in neighboring states only and to encourage them to establish in Louisiana.
