Tom Brown named to 1971 NATA All-American second team

Northeast Louisiana pitcher Tom Brown earns second team honors from the NAIA games committee based on season stats. The senior finished 8-4 and ended his college career 35-13, after being named Gulf States Conference outstanding pitcher on the final all-Gulf team.

Openings Remain For Cage Clinic Scheduled Here

Openings remain for a two session basketball clinic in Twin City with coaches Sidney Smith L J Fontenot Harper McKay and Billy Pee. The first session June 21 30 for ages nine to 14 at Wossman gym includes two lectures two drills and three games daily with $15 entry. The second session July 6 14 for ages 15 to 18 will be one group with insured participants and an all star game on the final day.

Colbert's and Central Youth Teams Rally For Wins

In West Monroe Dixie Youth South League action Colbert's rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Dial Finance 19 to 9. Central defeated Shell Oil 12 to 1 in five innings. Redding drew a key walk and then scored on a later play to spark Colbert's win. John Brown took the loss. Eugene Jones earned the relief win for Colbert's.

Ruston T. L. James Contractors delivered three late runs in the seventh to beat Hartsfield and White of Bossier City 7 6 and seize first place in the suburban division of the fourth district American Legion. Long homered for Bossier, while Ruston’s Best and Napper delivered key RBIs. Howard earned the win with a three strikeout seventh.
