Levine Feud Deepens Over New York to Germany Air Mail
Washington June 8 The first New York to Germany air mail on the plane Columbia may intensify the feud between Charles A Levine and the post office department. An antitrust inquiry is under way into the cancellation of air mail stamps on 250 letters by Hempstead Long Island Postmaster Sealey for Levine and State Senator Charles C Lockwood. The department says the stamps were cancelled off site and letters delivered to unauthorized recipients. Stamp value to dealers is about 1000 dollars each. Levine previously clashed with the Post Office when Postmaster General denied a North American Airways air mail contract. Sealey cancelled 125 letters at a Garden City hotel and 125 more at Roosevelt Field for Levine.
