The resolutions committee voted twenty six to twenty one to endorse a suffrage plank for the Republican platform. The committee also voted against including a prohibition plank in the platform.
Four coast defense companies from San Francisco are assigned for Monterey duty this summer for a military training camp for business and professional men opening July 19. Two companies are en route to prepare the camp. A hundred army officers will be detailed as instructors in warfare.

In Pittsburg on June 8 a thousand public school children will sing with Metropolitan Opera stars in an outdoor festival at Forbes Field. Richard Wagner Siegfried will be produced by a Metropolitan Opera cast with Madame Johanna Gadahi Mme Lila Robeso and Clarence Whitehill performing alongside the children as the Metropolitan Chorus Orchestra provides the accompaniment.

Detroit Michigan June thirteenth annual Board of Commerce cruise to Grand Island and return underway aboard the City of Detroit. Host of business men embark this morning. A modern allegory will be produced by a board member with amateur actors from area business community. Movies aboard ship to be featured each evening. The cruise ends Tuesday.
The Monroe Chamber of Commerce received a letter from Louis Brueggerhoff secretary of State Fair offering full cooperation for a parish fair in Monroe this fall. A three day event could run from October 23 to 28 with exhibits moved to Shreveport for the State Fair November 1 to 6. The proposal will be discussed at the June 13 Chamber meeting with members urged to attend.
The Shreveport Times reports Miss Clifft Martin became the first woman to graduate from the University of Louisiana Law School and be admitted to the Shreveport bar. Presented to the district court judges, she will begin practice but has not chosen an office, as she weighs her options in Shreveport.
A woman pursuing a law degree studies at Tickson & Denny and is offered use of the library, office room, typewriter, and stenographer until she opens her own practice. She is presented to the district court Wednesday morning with sponsors from the Shreveport Equal Suffrage League noting a historic breakthrough in a male dominated field.
In Cologne on June 7 the Woman's Alliance and 35 women's groups petitioned the fortress governor to issue a decree forbidding high heeled shoes, wide flowing shirts, and other imported or foreign fashions. They condemn the clothing as frivolous and a disrespect to wartime sacrifice and urge action against these “evils.”
