Strecker Must Wait To Ask Citizenship
Joseph G Strecker must wait at least two years before filing a new citizenship petition after deportation efforts. He must file a new declaration first and then wait between two and seven years before petitioning again. The district court referred the renewal to the New Orleans naturalization bureau. Strecker originally declared citizenship in 1927, but the declaration was denied in 1934 for lack of attachment to the United States. The Supreme Court later ruled the labor department erred in deportation under the statute.
