solitary river hermit inspires Monroe notes and life reflections
An extended reminiscence chronicles an old riverboat man named Louis living in solitude along the riverbank near Monroe. His simple abode, tattered garments, and daily habit of watching children at play evoke themes of faith, meditation, and quiet dignity amid flood risks and community curiosity.
