Deepest Louisiana Texas coast well taps Jennings Field
The deepest oil well drilling in the coastal Louisiana and Texas area came in Jennings field last night. It flows five thousand barrels of pipeline oil on two no quarter chokes with 50 avay gas pressure about 1,000 pounds. The bottom of the hole shows 50 feet of pay sand at 7388 feet. The well is Yount Lee's timber six Houssiere Latrille in section 47 93 2 near Evangeline village.

Mount Vesuvius Erupts Again Lava Flows Toward Pompeii
Naples dispatch reports Mount Vesuvius erupting once more this afternoon with lava pouring from a southeast crater cone. A nearly 46 foot wide lava stream moved toward Pompeii, while the interior cone remained active and no new danger to nearby dwellings or Pompeii was anticipated.

Drowning Tragedy Shocks City Pool
John E. Kennedy a 45 year old collector for Ouachita Flour and Feed drowned in a municipal pool after an all night search. The coroner's jury ruled accidental drowning. His body was found in the south pool by fireman L. J. Hunnicutt just after 4 am Sunday.
