Fourteen officers named. Among the dead of wounds is Corporal William C. Williamson of Blanchard Caddo parish Louisiana. Accidents or other causes include Private Thomas L. Seals of Prichard Mississippi.
In France June 4 the German forces failed to push toward Villers-Cotterets after a severe battle. Around Chateau Thierry Allied counter-attacks improved the Allied position.
Paris reports the German advance toward Paris has been stopped. The enemy is now engaging in a series of positional battles where the French hold the advantageous terrain and lead in the contest.
London reports heavy German artillery activity this morning along the front above Amiens between Albert and Zerre. The war office issued the update detailing intensified bombardments and implied sustained combat in the area.
An American combatant patrol engaged a larger enemy patrol near Ancerville in the Luenville sector today. American losses were slight while German casualties could not be determined.

A white man named Williams from West Carroll parish was tarred and feathered at Delhi last night after allegedly making disloyal remarks. He was arrested Monday, jailed, then punished, and later sent to Rayville pending arrival of a federal officer. An alleged quote blamed Germany, France, and the U S rail line, with plans of German beer he said would follow. The prisoner, reportedly well dressed with sunken eyes, came from near Pioneer and may be moved to Monroe for safekeeping.
An Atlantic Port report notes sinking attempts by German submarines yielded limited military results. About 350 lives unaccounted for from the steamship Carolina and 20,000 tons of American coastwise shipping damaged. Several ships reached port with survivors, while others remained missing or later towed in.
