A Bastrop coroner's jury heard witness Joe Winn describe the murder and robbery of 69 year old Bob Lee near Jones. Bo Webb, a negro, is accused and jailed. four other suspects, all negroes, are in custody.
Two earthquakes were recorded on seismographs at St Louis University. The first shock began at 9 58 57 p m and lasted about an hour with an epicenter about 1685 miles from St Louis. The second started around 4 9 13 a m and lasted over an hour, centered roughly 150 miles south of St Louis near Honduras.
The Lone Star highway between Alexandria and Monroe will be paved with asphalt on a Winnfield crushed rock base. Ben F. Lewis, Alexandria, head of the eight maintenance district of the Louisiana highway commission, said the work will be done by state forces. Preliminary work has begun, with one side paved at a time to avoid traffic disruption as Selma serves as the base of operations.
Paris reports Briand has formed his eleventh cabinet replacing Poincare as premier. Parliament will hear the program speech and likely vote about 300 to 140 in support or opposition as radical socialists split. Poincare's health teams plan two operations starting Thursday.

Local citizens urge inquiry to ease fear in the negro community and restore business confidence.

In Columbus Mississippi on July 30 Birney Ames editor of the Columbus Commercial Dispatch said St Louis endurance flyers led by Red Jackson and Forest O Brine surpassed the four hundred hour record but faced no help from a Mississippi legislature stalled for five weeks over a road bill.
The monoplane St Louis Robin had logged 412 hours when pilots Dale Jackson and Forest Brine did not respond to Major Robertson's noon note urging a landing. Curtiss rep Joseph Mellon said they have done their part and no risks will be taken. Robertson pledged to feed and refuel if needed. The pilots' wives supported grounding but backed the 500 hour record bid.
Major William Robertson of Curtiss Robertson Aircraft warns Dale Jackson and Forest Brine in the St Louis Robin endurance flight to land today. The pair, on their 18th day aloft, teased ground crews with jokes as 5,099 spectators watched refueling. A second note teased a landing next.
