Officers report she left a note saying she would be visiting likely Natchez and has not returned. Ramsey is 5 foot 6, 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Washington AP Chairman Oren Harris of the House Commerce Committee urged the nation’s railroads to hold off 30 days on new work rules set to take effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. Harris sought a 24 hour reply from Daniel Loomis, head of the Association of American Railroads, as hearings opened on Kennedy’s plan to have the Interstate Commerce Commission review crew rules. Loomis said a yes or no could not be given, noting railroads would consider the appeal amid years of push for a settlement. He warned another postponement would drain life from an ailing industry. He cited costly payments for work not performed and said the situation is intolerable.

A West Monroe mother and her two children escaped uninjured when lightning struck a pine tree and arced through their home at 8:25 a.m. The bolt knocked out bedroom windows and damaged tile in the den before grounding in the floor. Fire Chief Milton Fontenot noted wiring damage but no fire. the house is insured.
