State health cars arrived this afternoon at 2 25 oclock and are parked near the V. P. station. The cars are open to the public during the day and early evening. Dr Dowling and his party will stay here until Friday afternoon. Motion pictures will be shown in West Monroe tonight and Monroe tomorrow night.
A July fire at the Binghamton Clothing Company four story factory in Binghamton New York killed estimates of fifty with one hundred twenty or more workers in the building mostly women and girls. Fire officials said fire protection laws were followed but alarm confusion and a rapid blaze caused the high loss. The disaster echoes the New York Triangle waist company fire with similar causes cigarette or match negligence and swift flames.
A rapid fire outbreak races through a Wall Street building. Flames leap along stairs and elevators, consuming floors and ceilings. The blaze spreads across the riverfront and scorches nearby structures, with heavy smoke visible from the street.
Yesterday afternoon at 4 40 oclock two cottages on North Fourth Street belonging to John L Moore and Will Atkinson were totally destroyed by fire. A third cottage owned by K W Murray was slightly damaged. Moore and Mrs C Thomas lost most furniture while Atkinson saved much of his goods. Murray faced partial loss from hurriedly moved items. Total loss estimated about 5000 dollars with insurance covering Moore and Murray homes. Moore, critically ill, was removed from his fire home to Murray then to Bernhardt's for safety.
