Police in the Free City of Danzig report the arrest of 20 Marxian Socialists believed linked to a hostile foreign power. The detainees allegedly stored explosives to blow bridges and will be charged with treason. Authorities probe possible connections into Poland and Russia.

Attorney General Murphy ordered a federal grand jury investigation into the Minneapolis WPA strike after FBI findings. Victor E. Anderson, U S District Attorney, to convene the jury, with FBI reports presented privately to it. Indictments may be returned if the facts warrant.

In San Francisco officials signal an abrupt finish to Longshoremen's Leader Harry Bridges deportation case as government consider six to eight witnesses. Trial ends next week if fewer are called. defense notes Bridges may not be subject to deportation.
Northampton, July 19. Fear for the safety of Mrs. Bernice Beckwith 27 grows after she was seized at gunpoint by her ex husband James J. Kehoe 24 of Hudson, described as a former convict. Police hunt roads to western Massachusetts and search camps near Aldrich lake as they press for leads after the abduction and robbery at Langdon's plumbing shop. Beckwith escaped when the car halted and another man was ordered out.
Arthur Parker a 43 year old government clerk saved Ella Sisk 20 from the Potomac after 25 minutes in the water. He criticized police for directing traffic and shooing his wife from the scene while he walked the bridge in a no pedestrian zone.

State Senator James A. Noe charges Monroe Morning World publishers John D Ewing and Wilson Ewing with criminal libel. District Judge David J Garrett set bonds at 500 dollars each and ordered warrants served by Ouachita Parish sheriff. The action stems from a Wednesday Monroe Morning World article linking Senator Noe to hot oil.
In the Whangpoo river near Shanghai the American liner President Coolidge collided with the Japanese freighter Nissan Maru. The liner suffered bent plates but no injuries were reported. Rear Admiral Thomas Charles Hart was aboard the President Coolidge en route to assume command of the US Asiatic Fleet next Tuesday.
