Moscow dispatch reports James Mattern and Bennett Griffin missing between Berlin and Moscow on their round the world flight. Authorities checked major route points at dawn with no sign, noting fuel limits and the rough terrain over Kazan toward Omsk.
Three carloads of cantaloupes were sent to St. Louis from Monroe yesterday with four carloads planned for today and five per day during the peak next week. Frank Ada of Fruit Supply Co. of St. Louis oversaw the shipments and praised the Monroe region’s cantaloupes as competitive with Arizona and California. The top price for 36 jumbo melons was $2.25 per crate, and officials expect shipments to continue for about six weeks despite drought.
Reports from Charleston Mississippi say streams Coldwater Tallahatchie and Tippah are receding after a week of heavy rain. Several thousand acres of north Mississippi lowlands were underwater but drainage is improving and no major damage is expected unless rains resume.

Police intervened to avert trouble at the Anacostia camp, with the plan to move veterans by rail and provide 75 cents daily subsistence. Senate already passed loan authority to aid return home.
Sanity reports on June 30 by the state lunacy commission name James W. Newsom as insane for the May 30 killing of Dr. Baxter Porter. Louis Aaron and William Elmore were judged sane except for epilepsy related conditions. Aaron had killed Frank Wall. Newsom to be committed to Jackson State Hospital. details continued on Page Three.

Lausanne reports that France and Germany agreed on a treaty wording to replace all previous reparations agreements by stating the war guilt clause. The compromise also includes a final reparations payment by Germany of just under three billion marks about 750 million dollars.
Oklahoma City July 7. Oklahoma's first primary leaves many contests unsettled with 9 000 candidates. Will Rogers a Moore schoolmaster leads among 25 for congressman at large, edging close to E B Howard as votes stream in across 2 122 of 3 309 precincts. Mabel Bassett tops Democratic totals with 44 833. Claude Weaver once Governor Murray's favorite for congressman at large is eliminated and back at work as secretary. J C Wack Walton remains a perennial candidate after impeachment.
A severe quake began around 11:30 a m Eastern Standard Time and was reported today by Director John S O Connor of Georgetown University seismological observatory. Ongoing shocks left the disturbance location and direction undetermined at once.
In an interview with the World Telegram Curtis says mob anger and suspicion followed his conviction for hindering the Lindbergh baby kidnapers. He describes being an outlander and hopes to clear his name whether by appeal or serving a three year term. He promises to seek the truth of the case and asks the public to avoid mass hysteria.
William G. McAdoo after a talk with Speaker Garner said Alfred E. Smith will support the Democratic ticket and likely appear in Los Angeles. He predicted the ticket will carry California, Hoover’s state, and defended Smith’s loyalty while dismissing Republican claims of revenge.
Haskell Bohn, a St. Paul youth, arrived home exhausted and uninjured after nearly a week in captivity. He described being seized by two men and driven away, with extortion notes demanding money. Three men tied to the alleged plan were held by police as the teen recounted his release at a Medicine Lake farmhouse.
Norma Talmadge and Joseph Schenck remain separated as rumors swirl about a Mexican divorce. Francisco Aguilar claimed the action would be filed in Nogales Sonora, while Talmadge in Chicago and Hollywood officials deny any plan. Aguilar also said Vincent Riccardi was employed by Miss Talmadge.

The 1932 Louisiana legislature ends after May 9 session with about 4 million dollars in new taxes, a 5 million dollar bond issue, a 2.5 million loan for highways, and a tax reform commission. Governor Allen faces bills dumped on his desk and veto decisions remain unclear.
Two men arrested in Milwaukee are suspected in the Baskin bank robbery and Deputy Sheriff Elmo Ferguson slaying in Richland Parish. They match prior descriptions of Floyd Fullbright and others named in the case. Extradition to Louisiana being considered if they refuse voluntary return.
