Funeral services are planned in Columbia Olla and Oak Grove for Clyde Stallcup Sr 88 and Mrs Climmie Meredith 74 with burial at Columbia Cemetery Beach Creek Cemetery and local churches. Survivors include spouses children and extended families. pallbearers named for Stallcup and Fairchild grandchildren great grandchildren listed. services directed by Riser and Son Funeral Home First National Funeral Home and Forest Baptist Church.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at New Bethany Baptist Church Oak Ridge for Fred J. White 34 with Rev H M Lowery officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery under Miller’s Funeral Home Monroe. He died at home after an illness. Surviving relatives include his widow and many children and extended family in Oak Ridge and Rayville.
Funeral services were held for Mrs Leona Skains 65 of Bastrop at Homesville Baptist Church with burial in Homesville Cemetery under Golden Funeral Home. She died Wednesday at E A Conway Memorial Hospital Monroe after a brief illness. The service listed her survivors including son Robert Skains and daughter Floyce Fouts among others and pallbearers named Reggie Glen Skains Larry Weems and others.
Mrs. Bessy Williams of Delhi is survived by two sisters Mrs. Louise Hendrix and Mrs. Vergie Green both of Delhi three brothers Nathaniel Williams Jr and James Williams both of New Orleans and Taase Williams of Elnora Mississippi and one grand child.
Lee Dunnington of Shreveport dies leaving four sons Isiah William of Monroe Joe Baker and Roosevelt Lawson both of Shreveport and Nathan Hollins of Los Angeles California. He is survived by 37 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held for Maude Antley 65 of West Monroe with burial at Acree Cemetery after a Norris Clinic death in Farmerville. Survivors include husband Denver Antley three sons a daughter and 13 grandchildren. Also for Clara Marshall 86 of Delhi funeral at Mt Zion Baptist Church with burial in Delhi Cemetery. Marshall leaves a daughter two sons sisters and a brother plus 11 grandchildren.
Claudia Green age 47 of Monroe will be laid to rest after a 1:30 Sunday service at New Bright Star Baptist Church officiated by Rev. R. M. Martin. Burial follows at Richwood Memorial Gardens under Hunt's Golden State Funeral Parlor. Green died Monday at E A Conway Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by band Mayfield Green, three daughters Sadie Lee Smith Helen Ann Green Rose Mary Green, four sons Jimmy Green Mayfield Green Jr Louis Green Robert Green, two sisters Inez Smith Josephine Simmons, and six grandchildren.
Mrs Mythris Killians 47 of Delhi dies after brief illness at home. Service set for noon Sunday at Mt Zion Baptist Church with Rev W M Mathis officiating. Survived by four daughters including Benny and Della Killians of New Orleans and Vivian Killians of Delhi, six sons Elton Melvin Timothy Frederick Nathaniel all of Delhi and Adell Williams of New Orleans, and her mother.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday for Mrs. Gracie Hollins of Shreveport at New Baptist B C Church with burial in the church cemetery. She died Monday in Shreveport after a lengthy illness. Surviving are daughter Mrs. Lillie Ford, daughter Mrs. Annie Lee White, and others, plus brothers Tom Rhone and Sam Rhone, in Mangham, and relatives in California and Monroe.
Teletha Ashley 30 of Monroe dies after a short illness at Conway Memorial Hospital. Funeral set for Sunday at 1 p.m. at Church of God and Christ in Monroe with Rev. Roosevelt Wilson officiating. Burial in City Cemetery. Survivors include father Harold Ashley mother Sarah Wright three sisters Mary Lee Wright Betty Jo Wright Christine Wright and brother Leroy Gilmore. Served by Hunt's Golden State Funeral Parlor.
Funeral services are set for John Lee Jr. 47 of 725 Coleman St West Monroe at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Miller's Funeral Home Mon roe. Burial follows at Hasley Miller's. Lee died Wednesday in Confederate Memorial Hospital from injuries in a West Monroe City Jail fire. He is survived by his father John Lee Monroe sister Salley Nettles West Monroe four aunts three nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Sunday for Mrs. David Upton 31 of Shreveport former principal bassist of the Shreveport Symphony. She studied at Peabody College and taught string instruments at LSU Ruston Grambling Centenary and in Monroe schools. Survivors include husband a son and a daughter plus her parents and sister. Pallbearers named.
An 18 year old Monroe youth was sentenced to six months in jail today by Fourth District Judge Robert T. Farr for possession of marijuana. Willie Earl Tillery of Monroe received the term according to court records.
West Monroe deputies identified James Andrew Taylor as a suspect in the armed robbery of Jimmie’s Grocery on Jonesboro Road. A second masked suspect was being sought while a bystander reported a purse theft in Monroe. Police said about $100 was taken and a separate burglary occurred at Gilbert Faulk’s home.
West Monroe Civitan Club joins clubs worldwide to honor clergymen of all faiths during International Clergy Week. Proclamations by state and city leaders designate the week through Feb. 3, remembering the four World War II chaplains who sacrificed aboard the Dorchester. Mayor Hatten signs Sunday proclamation praising clergy contributions locally and nationally.
The defendant at 513 South 6th Street received credit for time served and five months of the sentence were suspended after a December 24 1972 conviction for possession of marijuana.
Funeral services for Ralph Thedford, 59, of 202 Mary St. Monroe, are set for 3 p.m. Saturday at Mulhearn's Funeral Home Chapel in Monroe. Thedford died today at his residence after thirty years as a Monroe resident. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Virgie Thedford, one brother Burt Thedford of Sterlington, and three sisters Mrs. Edna Rogers of St. Smith Ark, Mrs. Florylla Hurt and Mrs. Helen Ainsworth both of Monroe.
Calhoun fourth through sixth graders participate in Arbor Day observance at Central Elementary School. The Junior 4-H Club, aided by Jorenda Smith, Butch Nixon and David Joiner, planted twelve trees as a Junior Leader Project.
Emma Joiner 75 of Downs ville will be buried in Kilpatrick's Union Cemetery after services at 2 p.m. Saturday in Farmerville. She died today at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. Survivors include brothers Oshbon and Ira Brown of Houston and sisters Selma Manning of Monroe and W N Brasher of West Monroe.
