In Tucson AZANE on January 26, trading was quiet with prices steady early and rising modestly. Demand from buyers and shorts supported a late advance before mild selling pared gains, leaving prices near session highs but net higher overall.
From York Jan 26 buyers covered positions pulling May contracts toward the 6 cent level for spring months. Early trading showed net advances around four to four and a half cents with May near 19.87, ending at 19.86 after Friday's 19.82 close.
Buying by European trade interests to fix one pot cotton reduced liquidation and supported the market. Early selling eased then firmed as week end covering occurred.
