At a White House judiciary reception guests miss Mrs Homer Cummings and Mrs Daniel Roper as their husbands just left the official family. Frank Murphy becomes attorney general and Harry Hopkins takes secretary of commerce. Murphy s sister Marguerite Teahan plans to attend but stays in Detroit with her 21 month old baby. Mrs Harold L Ickes held her first official at home greeting guests.
Former Idaho Senator James P. Pope was appointed by President Roosevelt to the Tennessee Valley Authority. He will replace Arthur E. Morgan and return to public service after a prior bid for reelection.
