Cairo officials say the Egyptian position on a Palestinian state and full withdrawal from occupied Arab lands will not change. U S envoy Alfred Atherton expressed understanding while two joint ministerial committees seek to bridge gaps after the Sadat Begin summit. Damascus calls the summit a failure and urges Sadat to step down as Israel’s concessions are deemed insufficient.
Monroe Civic Center Director Jim Williams says a national ERA boycott targeting non ratifying states will not affect Monroe conventions. He notes Monroe serves a secondary market and has booked events through 1979 1980 while New Orleans feels losses from cancellations.
