A fast moving fire destroyed the death house pavilion at the Dunning state hospital for the insane in Chicago last night killing seventeen people. Fourteen of the dead were patients in advanced stages of insanity. Attendants E. J. Caraker and wife and their eight year old son Lowell are named among the victims. only one patient was identified. The rest were burned beyond recognition.

Female students outpace male peers in Radcliffe tests
Cambridge Mass December 27 In a series of intelligence tests given to 197 students and 112 girl undergraduates at Radcliffe College the girls ranked 4.5 percent higher than the college men according to figures released by Harvard psychologist A A Roback. He notes similar studies at Simmons College and Clark University and says the average intelligence of girls in colleges is higher than that of men.
