Cyclone devastates Bayou Bartholomew killing Spain family
A severe storm struck near Farmers’ Ferry in Morehouse parish at 2:30 am. Mrs Mary Spain and five others died. 15 year old Nellie Spain and seven year old Edgar Spain were badly injured. The Spain home four miles northwest of Bastrop was demolished with furniture carried miles along the bayou. Nellie flung to St Francis Sanitarium for care. Edgar expected to survive.

Gasoline from a Southwest well draws scientific attention
Geologists from Canada and the United States visit Monroe to study a rare natural gasoline deposit from the La Del Oil Corporation.
