Two men burned to death and several injured as a six story grain elevator with storage for about a million bushels of wheat and other grains is destroyed by fire. A dust explosion in the cupola sparked the blaze causing a rapid collapse threat to nearby structures. Firefighting efforts with five tugs and lines could not save the building.
Walter Henderson known as Heinie Henderson testified at a Shreveport preliminary hearing for Wade Brown accused as bank robbery driver. Brown denied knowledge of the crime, stating he was forced to stop at gunpoint. Henderson confessed to carrying the stolen money sack after the drive.

The circle levee project, under construction, runs through Ouachita parish's Gravity Drainage District No 1. Mayor C. C. Bell notes completion and floodgates approved by voters with an approximate $65,000 cost.
Frances Lassiter, 15, a Newport News high school sophomore, faces a hearing next Thursday after she fatally shot her father Alexander M. Lassiter. Police said he was shot while helping search for a missing door key and turning as Frances drew a pistol from her dresser.
Awakening at 5 20 this morning to find a burglar looting his room C F Johnston of 109 Lazarre Avenue West Monroe and foreman for Bancroft Bay factory was threaten ed with death if he moved Watches and a small amount of cash were taken from Mr Johnston and from J C Sanford proprietor of City Drug store who was in another room in the same house The intruder shone a flashlight into Johnston s face and pistol whipped him then took a watch fountain pen and 2 in cash from Johnston and left Sanford s trousers taken to the back porch.
Rita Curley of East Norwalk once known as Rita Dane and the former actress in Katinka was granted a divorce in Bridgeport Superior Court from Harry C. Curley of New Orleans. She charged desertion and non support. the couple married in 1921.
The notice states that a 1982 poll tax receipt is not required for the December 27 primary for judge of the fourth election district. Receipts for 1930 and 1931 are required for that election. Receipts for 1931 and 1932 are needed to ensure the right to vote in any election held next year.

Authorities expected charges to be pressed but no warrant had been issued. Heider may be taken into custody at home if charges are filed.
New Orleans reports jockey Johnny Gilbert, leading national riding honors with 201 wins in 1932, received a letter warning he would not live to Christmas if he fails to win three races today at Jefferson Park. The envelope bore an unknown sender, mailed from Brooklyn, signed only "38," and turned over to postal authorities. Gilbert, 17, from Pittsburgh Kansas, competes with Hank Mills who has 194 wins.
In Linden Texas officers pursue the case of a five year old girl who died after being under the care of two itinerant preachers. Paul Oaks and Coy Oaks face murder charges as officials say they choked the child amid faith healing attempts. The suspects admitted to the crime and moved from another part of Texas to Cass county where they preached in rural communities. The child's parents are Mr and Mrs W J Clayton.
Five minutes after a negro highwayman robbed a white traveler near Lacassine of his overcoat and articles, Sheriff John Conner arrested him as he entered Jennings in a coupe. The victim told District Judge Thomas F. Porter and District Attorney John J. Robia, who assisted, and the stolen items were recovered.
In Washington on December 23 the Senate rejected Senator Bing ham's move to fast track the 3.2 beer bill. The vote stood 48 against and 23 in favor of taking up the measure, with Democrats opposing a rushed approach and urging regular committee study before any floor action.
