Two Arrested for Hog Stealing Near Monroe
Deputy Sheriff D L Roper arrested Elmer Parker and Augie Parrish on hog larceny charges at the old Steele Hall place four miles from Monroe on Winnsboro road. Authorities found a cache of loot including clothing, meat, bicycles, tarpaulin and wire believed stolen from Monroe and West Monroe. The loot is valued at about 150 dollars. both suspects are jailed.

Ouachita parish agricultural agent B M Jackson reports 1921 corn yields strained by drought and boll weevil, with nitrate of soda demonstrations producing 52 bushels per acre from 200 pounds and 37 from 100 pounds. Demonstrations covered 724 acres with 26.01 bu per acre average, parish-wide 18.3 bu. Farmers saved 2699.40 dollars on fertilizers and seed costs. Cotton tests show calcium arsenate far more effective than syrup calcium arsenate, Meade cotton yielding near others and long staple as productive as short varieties, with 648 demonstration acres and seed cotton yields rising by 295.1 pounds over standard methods.
