Slattery House Fire Kills Girl as Two Firemen Escape
The Slattery residence at South Fifth Street and Stone Avenue was nearly destroyed by a blaze at 10 20 PM. Alberta Adam a a twelve year old girl was burned to death after being trapped in her room. The fire origin is undetermined but intense cold hampered efforts and two firefighters had a narrow escape from a falling cornice. The house was owned by Suger Bros and insured for 2000.
