Cotton was generally steady on moderate demand as Liverpool showed steady, weather hindrances limited movement in the south. March contracts rose about 6 points intraday, with afternoon activity quiet yet firm near best levels. closing highs advanced 4 to 8 points on the session.
New Orleans prices show mixed movement for December 12 with celery and oranges abundant while cabbage supplies rise in Louisiana. Louisiana Elisa Triumphs fetch 1.40 to 1.50 per cwt. lettuce and tomatoes command higher box prices. various regional produce including Idaho Russets, California garlic, and Florida beans feature in steady to firm ranges.
Liverpool reports cotton at 82 000 bales with 14 000 American. American strict good middling 5.87 and other grades quoted higher, futures end quiet with Dec to Oct ranges around 4.89 to 4.98.

The federal award matches Schlosser’s $5 000 policy.
Walter Clyde Davis a 50 year old former Colorado Springs Building and Loan president awaiting extradition on embezzlement charges committed suicide in his police cell. A turnkey noticed the hanging and, after three hours of resuscitation, Davis was pronounced dead.
Chicago market notes show Batter with 6 819 steady and creamery specials around 93 score, with various grade ranges and prices for extras, firsts, seconds, and standards. Eggs listing 2119 steady, with prices for extra firsts, fresh graded first, current receipts, refrigerators firsts, and refrigerator extras.
In Chicago on December 12 USDA notes potatoes on track at 32, total U S shipments 449 on Saturday and 11 on Sunday, supplies moderate with no trading account. Cold weather keeps the market firm and normally unchanged.
Chicago traders reported steady activity in live poultry with 18 trucks present. Hens varied from 9 to 12 cents per pound, Leghorn and colored breeds at 8 to 12 cents, roosters 8 cents, turkeys 11 to 16 cents, ducks 8 to 9 cents, geese 9 cents, and broilers at 13 cents per pound.
Mrs Sam Goldman wife of the Monroe store proprietor suffered severe injuries in an automobile crash Saturday night while en route to Kilgore Texas. On a highway between Shreveport and Marshall he swerved to avoid a collision causing the car to strike a bridge. Her arm was badly injured when it was thrust through a window and she underwent surgery in Marshall.
In cooperation with the Adult Union the Young Peoples organization will present a Christmas pageant at the West Monroe Methodist church on Sunday December 18. After the pageant gifts will be received for distribution to people less fortunate in the West Side community. Seeks contributions to spread Christmas joy.
James Morris Higginbotham, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Higginbotham of this city, was named one of ten members in Stars and Bars Tulane chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha honorary medical fraternity. He is a Tulane medical school senior slated to graduate next June at age 22. The honor is noted as very high for the Monroe student.

The News-Star-World Mor gan and Lindsey Woolworth Grant's store and city utilities fund a prize pool totaling 60 dollars for top tree and exterior decorations. First prize for best decorated tree is 20 dollars, second 10 dollars, third 5 dollars, with 15 dollars for best exterior and 10 for second place. A hold warrant for Walter Heinie Henderson alias Jackson, held in Caddo parish jail, was sent to Sheriff Hughes. He is wanted in Oklahoma City for robbing the State National Bank on November 7 and identified as one of the robbers by an Oklahoma assistant cashier. A second Oklahoma warrant for another bank robbery exists but is not yet received.
