D M Puryear a 29 year old manager of the National Credit Association in New Orleans was found dead in his office by the janitor. A note attached to a dollar bill requested that his sister Mrs Ira Hicks of Knoxville Tennessee be notified. A pistol lay under the desk and one shot had been fired into his temple.

Dog Proves Hero in Memphis Shooting Accident
United Press reports in Memphis on December 12 that a hunting dog tracked a rabbit to a brush heap, leading rescuers to George Sims, 21, who had accidentally shot himself with a rifle. Sims died before reaching a hospital.
