Monroe Policeman Fatally Shoots Cuban Negro at Seventh Street House

In Monroe a Cuban man known as B Brasbaum or Yellow Jacket was shot by Policeman J M McCabe at 504 North Seventh Street after advancing on the officer with a knife. The coroner ruled the shooting justified. witnesses say the suspect attacked McCabe in a Seventh Street dwelling, prompting the fatal response.

Mrs. A. R. Roberts Dies After Lingering Illness

Mrs. A. R. Roberts, 29, of Drew, died at St Francis sanitarium Sunday night after a long illness. Monroe Judge Hosts Boy Scouts Nut Gathering

Judge Schulze led about thirty scouts from troop No. 1 to the woods on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Each returned with roughly half a bushel of hickory nuts and a hearty appetite. Scout Marshall Johnson won a prize for collecting the most nuts. L. W. Gresham supplied a large truck for the ten mile trip, and the boys enjoyed jokes and nut cracking on the journey.

The district attorney says the preliminary trial in the Brous sard case will begin Wednesday at 10 in the morning. The defendant faces a charge of assault with intent to commit rape with Mary Davis, age 16, as the complainant.
