Son of Shumaker Seeks View of Father’s Avenger Site
G H Shumaker recently from California and formerly of Youngstown Ohio visited the sheriff with his wife and small son to view the jail and gallows connected to the 1924 murder cases. He said his father D A Shumaker was Pentecostal missionary murdered in August 1924 and Howard Roberson hanged for the Swartzgrocer death. The family toured the third floor of the county courthouse and examined the iron rope ring used in the execution.

Young People’s Conference Opens In Monroe Today

Mangham Aims to Make Potato History in Louisiana

Three carloads of certified Bliss Triumph Irish potatoes from North Dakota will be planted in February and harvested by late May or June.
