Stubbs began July 22 1909 and has led site operations with a long prior engineering career in Missouri River surveys and W S P rail work.
A large Plaquemines Parish gathering backed John T. Michel for governor with about 1,200 attendees from all wards. Captain Ben Michel led three boats with 300 men from Burrwood Port Eads and Pilot Town to bolster the event amid banners and a center portrait of Michel.
Pekin reports late developments unfavorable to the imperialists as Urea declares independence and expels Chinese officials. Manchuria may join the rebellion. General Chao Khr Hsun says Japanese aid rebels and supply dynamite. Japanese legation denies involvement in any uprising planned for today.

St Louis federal judge Triber quashed the indictment charging E G Lewis with mail fraud after findings that the case could not proceed. The decision ends the federal prosecution of the publisher based on the alleged mailing fraud counts.

Washington, Dec. 5. The senate committee probing alleged corruption in Senator Lorimer’s Illinois election resumes hearings after twelve weeks and 130 witnesses. Eldridge Haney will call many witnesses to challenge prior testimony, with Lorimer to testify after others. a report is unlikely before next February.
James B. McNamara, the defense, admits in a written confession that on September 30 1910 at 545 p m he placed a suitcase with sixteen sticks of dynamite in the Times Building Ink Alley section. He says the blast aimed to injure the building and frighten owners, not to kill anyone, and expresses remorse for the deaths.
Mr B S Eby owner of Cottonport Poultry Farm won almost all top prizes in the Haff Rock class at the New Orleans Poultry Show taking first and second in hens and pullets, first pen, second cock and other awards with a special silver cup for the best colored female. He has previously won blue ribbons at Monroe Shreveport Vicksburg Pine Bluff and Memphis shows.
Today saw the start of a steamship line from St John New Brunswick to New Zealand and Australian ports including Melbourne Auckland and Sydney. The two first class ships Waiwera and Wakanui will operate the new service.
