Bank Robbery in Metairie As Bandits Escape by Car
Two masked men armed with shotguns robbed the Metairie bank outside New Orleans taking about 2500 dollars. A Confederate-flagged escape car sped toward Lake Pontchartrain as traffic was halted and a pursuit followed by Thomas McClement and H W Them. The bandits fled after crashing through a railroad crossing gate while witnesses watched. Bank staff included cashier J D Barrett bookkeeper Bu Cauvin and teller Henry Hildebrand with Mrs A E Blanchard among customers.
